Domain, Hosting, or Both: What to Buy First
New businesses often assume domain and hosting are a package deal, but they solve different problems and you don't always need both at the same time.
If you're not ready to launch a website yet but want to lock in your business name before someone else does, buy the domain alone. A registered domain with nothing built on it yet is a completely normal, common state — it protects the name while you figure out the rest.
If you already have a domain from elsewhere and just want somewhere to host a new site, buy hosting alone and point your existing domain at it — you don't need to buy a second domain to do this.
